We bought some muesli and yoghurt yesterday to eat for breakfast at the hotel. There is a nice communal kitchen/eating area. We attempted to drink Starbucks coffee machine coffees that is in the hotel and cost more money than it should. Ah, but it was DISGUSTING and I could not drink it. So after breakfast we went back to 28 Cafe for a much nicer coffee.

Caffeined up, we went to explore nearby Fort Canning Park, just because it looked kind of cool. And it was cool, well cool in the sense that it was interesting, not cool as in temperature. It was HOT. We were sweating a lot as we explored the park.

Despite the humidity we had a nice stroll through the park and saw some very large plants and trees, some wild rainforest chickens and a dead Plantain Squirrel.

On todays agenda was lunch at The English House, which is a restaurant owned by famous chef Marco Pierre White. Now the reason this was on the agenda originally….was to see Anthony Bourdain’s knife that is on display there. Plus a bunch of other things of Anthony Bourdains as well. Marco is a collector of all sorts of antiques and other stuff and he obtained a bunch of Anthony’s things after he passed away, and they are on display for diners at the restaurant to view. That was a very convoluted paragraph. Basically, I wanted to see Anthony Bourdains stuff, so we booked for lunch at the restaurant.
Turns out the restaurant is really cool with all sorts of other cool antiques and stuff displayed around the restaurant. Oh and the food wasn’t half bad either. We got the set menu – tasting menu, and all of it was delicious. Enough rambling, here’s some pics.

After lunch we were quite full so went for a bit more of a walk through Fort Canning park, where we saw more forest chickens.

We spent quite a bit of time in the park and looked through a museum about the area and some Singaporean history which was very interesting. Then we headed to a place called Chijmes, which was an old church building that has been converted in to shops and cafes. We were hot and tired again from all the walking so we stopped in a cafe called Hvala for matcha and icecream.

After eating more icecream than we probably should have, we headed back to the hotel for an afternoon swim, and then we headed back to Food Opera at ION Orchard and got the same dinner we had last night because we are boring and like to do the same things all the time. It was so delicious though. Those dumplings are THE BEST.
