After muesli breakfast in our room, we nipped up to nearby Apartment Cafe for a coffee. It was a good coffee. And a cute cafe.

After coffee we headed to a Japanese travel fair at a shopping centre. We decided to walk, because it was actually going to take longer to catch the train, the thing we need to understand though is it is friggin’ hot. A 20 minute walk is not so easy in 80% humidity. We made it though and soon enough we were in the air conditioned comfort of a shopping mall. We found the Japan fair and made our way through the stalls, talking to the people running them and gathering brochures and doing surveys to get free products and that kind of thing.

Later in the evening there was going to be photo opportunities with all the different mascots, we did plan to come back, but alas, it was not to be.

Japan info gathered, we headed around to the bay to the “Gardens by the Bay” and stopped in at Shake Shack for lunch. The last time I had Shake Shack was in Chicago in 2017 and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I don’t think these burgers were as good, but they were damn tasty and the thickshakes were well earned and just what we needed in this insane heat.

Oh yeh and you better believe I dipped those chips in my shake.

After lunch we had a bit of a wander around the gardens, but the plan was to come back later in the evening when there was going to be illuminations for the Mid Autumn (or Mooncake) Festival.
We saw these animal sculptures- by the same artists that we saw sculptures from in Melbourne last year (Wild about Babies (baby animals that is) This is apparently the longest sculpture ever or something. We think it’s cheating a bit tbh, but the sculptures are really cute.

We looked for otters in the bay, but saw none.

Time for an afternoon coffee and we went back around to the shops at the marina and got some coffees from Arabica. We went and sat out on the waterfront and enjoyed our very tasty indeed coffees.

We ended up sitting out here for ages. Like 2 hours or something and I kept seeing people with large delicious beers so I decided I needed one too.

We slowly headed back around to the Gardens By The Bay. We had planned to go up the tree top walk but it was sooooo busy when we got there, we decided against it. We tried to go up it in 2015, but couldn’t due to a thunderstorm. Maybe we will do it in like 2030.

Because of the Mid Autumn festival celebrations it was incredibly busy all around the park. We did manage to see some of the illuminations though. And we walked around some of the less busy areas of the park.

Oh and we saw this giant baby

After we had our fill of illuminations we caught the train back to ION Orchard and went to our favorite food hall because again, it was late and we like it there. We ended up getting Hainanese Chicken rice for dinner. It was pretty good. But we made it better by getting some more of our favorite delicious dumplings.

On the way home we stopped by Fort Canning Park (where we visited yesterday) because we thought it would be cool to see at night time and also, we had only done like 20,000 steps today and needed it to be closer to 30,000. We hoped to see some nocturnal fauna but only managed to scream in terror when we saw a bat coming our way. No cute marsupials or monkeys were sighted.

Oh and we stopped in at our new favourite shop too.
