I Wish I Could See an Otter (our last day in Singapore)

We didn’t really know what to do with ourselves today. We finally decided to just have a meander around. We walked down to Bugis/Arab Street area again because we quite liked it yesterday, and as you have seen on this trip, we like to do things twice.

We saw this guy on the way.

I wanted to get coffee here, but didn’t.

Coffee Donkey

The insta famous Haji Lane.

Went went back to Mrs Pho for lunch and got some Pho. The cat waiter delivered our food this time. Hooray!

Tasty Pho

Then, ice cream at Birds Of Paradise. Steve had Pandan and really rich chocolate and I had strawberry & basil and spiced pear. They were rather delicious.

All the ice cream

Then we jumped on the MRT and headed down to the Marina. We decided that we would have another attempt at going up the trees at Gardens By the Bay.

But first, coffees from Arabica and chilling on the boardwalk.

It was pretty quiet and chilled around there. We went and had a look in the spherical Apple Store. Not at anything in particular, we just wanted to see inside the store.

We wandered around to the Gardens by the Bay Area and looked for otters along the water side. We saw no otters 🦦

We did see an unusual bird though.

And structures of birds.

And some cacti.

We walked around a corner and a sign said “Big Fish Aquarium”. We got quick a fright as we rounded the corner. They weren’t wrong. There were some big ass fish in an aquarium.

They don’t look that big in the pic but they were

We saw the remnants of the weekend Mid Autumn festival. The illuminations we’re headed for the bin.

Sad
Poor bunnies

We decided to go up the trees then and there and not wait for sunset when it would undoubtedly be much busier. Tickets secured, we headed up the trees (by elevator)

Classic tourist pose

Finally we got to go up the trees. It was actually pretty cool, but would’ve been nice to see it all lit up. We headed back over the overpass to the marina.

All the shops

Back over on the boardwalk we got some beers (well I had a beer, Steve had a rum drink) and chilled out there and waited for the sun to set.

Cheers Singapore

Then dinner back at ION Orchard (yes we are boring)

Then, back to the hotel to pack and get ready to leave tomorrow.

The next morning we had to get to the airport reasonably early, so we just packed up and taxi’ed out of there. We checked in and went through security too quickly and missed checking out the new “Jewel” area at the airport which was a bit of a shame.

Homeward bound

Scoot airlines were fine. Nice planes and quite spacious. But lack of food is a bit tough for me, and the food they sell doesn’t quite look edible. I did sneak a Kit Kat and a Hokkaido Bread snack because I was starving. I also got to listen to the new Wilco album “Cousin” for the first time during the flight, so that was nice.

Then, we were home again. Oh and we caught the new train line home from the airport which was a bit exciting.

Wilco’s new album for those taking notes (it arrived while we were away)
