Parks and recreation

Had a bit of a sleep in this morning- tired from staying up until 1am last night…we are so old ha ha. But at least the jet lag seems to be leaving.

After breakfast we caught the subway up to Central Park and moseyed around there for a while. It’s a big park, we only walked around some of it but we did see a lot of squirrels – they were so cute.

We had planned to go to Lexington Candy luncheonette for a drink/snack but we realised too late that we had walked too far away from it and it was going to be too much of an effort to go back.

We instead decided it was time to go and see Times Square and all the madness it provides. We needed lunch too so we went to Shake Shack which was probably not the ideal choice but it was there and their burgers are pretty good.

We walked past some places like Radio City Music Hall before getting to Times Square. It doesn’t look as impressive during the day, but it was still crazy busy.

Just realised I didn’t really take any good photos! Oh well. We will be back there tomorrow night so I’ll get some shots then.

We did a bit of shopping – except we didn’t actually buy anything so I guess you can’t really call it shopping can you? Went to the Disney store because you just have to.

Went to FAO Schwartz toy shop but it wasn’t as good as it used to be. Well I don’t know what I was expecting really, as I guess it’s not really targeted at me is it? But the old FAO Schwartz store had this cool section where you could make your own muppet!

Anyway…had a look Rockefeller Plaza because we needed to use a toilet but then discovered a Blue Bottle Coffee Cafe and thus stopped in for an afternoon coffee. It was adequate. No photo so you will have to imagine.

After coffee we considered getting a Red Velvet cupcake from Magnolia Bakery, but tbh it was looking a bit feral in there and the cupcakes didn’t look as good as we’d remembered them from 2009. Also, we didn’t really need a cupcake.

We headed back to our hotel for a bit before heading out to Williamsburg to catch up with my Nephew and his family. We got some really delicious Middle Eastern food for dinner and caught up on the last 15 years which was the last time we had seen each other!

We popped down the waterfront for spectacular views of Manhattan briefly before catching the subway back to our hotel.
