New York Gerry on Merch

So today was our last day in NYC. We will be sad to leave. It took us a couple of days to settle in and clear the jet lag, but now it almost feels like home. Our hotel has been so great and chilled and comfortable- it will definitely be sad to leave.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves here – we still have one full day to have fun!

Breakfast started as normal at our hotel – I opted for the chocolate croissant this morning. Delicious!

Breakfast contemplations

We decided today that we would go walk the “Highline” which is a walk along an old train line near Hudson Yards. We caught the subway there and firstly we saw “The Vessel” – super cool structure- you can actually go up it but it keeps getting closed because people keep jumping off it which is pretty sad.

Looks like a hive

We walked along the Highline walk and it was really cool. Steve even said it was the highlight of the trip so far! Lots of cool buildings and cute gardens. We actually walked it in both directions, stopping briefly for an ice cream break.

Ice cream stop!

After we had finished our walking tour, we got back on the subway and headed to Wall Street. Not because we wanted to see Wall Street, but because there was a cafe there that we wanted to go to. The cafe is called Conwell Coffee and is in an old bank. Luckily it was as good as we had hoped because it was a bit of a trek to get to. We had Raspberry Lemonades and toast with crab and heirloom tomatoes for lunch. It was really tasty and not 10kg of food like yesterday’s lunch.

We sat on a comfy couch and stayed there quite a while.

Great cafe – seek it out if you can

Then we hiked it over to SoHo where I might’ve bought a pair of Nike’s cos y’know, when in New York. I actually wanted Adidas- but the ones I want don’t seem to exist in shops even though every second person seems to be wearing them 🤷‍♀️

Shoes purchased we went for a quick coffee with Tyson where we promised to not leave it another 15 years between seeing each other.

Then back to hotel for a quick bit of packing, before heading off to dinner at nearby Freeman’s (just outside our hotel) Delicious but a little pricey, but hey everything here is for us.

Then we went to the Bowery Electric to see the Young Fresh Fellows who were excellent. Cool venue too, even if the girl next to me was annoying.

Now we are back at the hotel and it is late and we have to get going early tomorrow so I should probably go to bed but I want to finish this blog. We will be at Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, Massachusetts for the next 3 days. The Wifi is pretty crappy there plus I’m gonna be busy seeing bands so it’s unlikely there will be any updates for the next few days – so don’t panic folks! I will resume normal programming as soon as possible.

(Oh the title of this blog is because at the gig tonight we kept seeing people who remind us of people from home – so the guy selling merch looked like our friend Gerry hence he was New York Gerry – hilarious I know)

Good night New York!
