Solid Sound Day 2. We were so proud of ourselves that we had organised breakfast and coffee to have in our dorm room. Our proudness came to an abrupt end when we realised we had forgot to buy milk for our coffee. So it goes.
We ate our (very sugary) granola with some skyr and berries and drank a sub par black coffee before heading down to Mass Moca.
The time goes very quick in the morning. We wanted to get there in time for the first act Fenne Lily. We made it there in what we thought was plenty of time, but there was a huuuuuuge line. I was also desperate for a better coffee, so by the time we got in and I had ordered a coffee I had missed the first song from Fenne Lily. Got to see the rest of her set and it was really good even if she didnt play the song I wanted to hear.

After Fenne Lily’s set we watched The Ratboys.

Each time we come to Solid Sound we make more and more friends. And this year we felt like we had so many friends! It was so great to meet some in real life for the first time and to catch up with those we have met before.

Then, lunch time!

A visit to the Oxford Pennant shop

Then it was fine once again for the Young Fresh Fellows. They were so damn good. It rained a bit during their set so we donned our ponchos.

Then we got word of a pop up show – Jeff Tweedy and his son Spencer doing a “Chit chat check in” interview type thing in one of the galleries. We headed in to it and I managed to push my way in to having a good view. Well I didn’t exactly push, I asked politely. Anyway Jeff and Spencer talked about some stuff like making The Tweedy Show during the pandemic – which probably doesn’t mean a lot to a lot of you reading this, but The Tweedy Show was a big part of our lives for a while there, so yeh it was a good talk.

After Jeff and Spencer, we walked around the galleries a bit, wandered around – probably had some food? I can’t quite remember- it was a busy day!

We headed over to Joes Field to get ready to see Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets. It was raining quite a bit by this stage and I was worried about getting wet feet. We had ponchos but that doesn’t help your feet. I needed shoe ponchos asap!
I improvised with a plastic face mask packet I had in my bag. It proved quite effective – and not to mention incredibly stylish 😆

Nick Lowe was great as expected and John & Pat from Wilco made a guest appearance on one song. That’s one of the best bits about Solid Sound – you never know who’s going to turn up where!

We had a bit of a break after Nick Lowe – so we got some dinner and chilled a bit before it was time for Wilco night 2!

We were all hoping the clouds would clear and the rain wouldn’t set in for Wilco. Luckily it stayed clear and Wilco played a fabulous set which included playing their album A Ghost is Born in its entirety. Crowd around us were great and I had a really clear view of the stage which is always good!

After Wilco we hung out with our friends for a watched Mikaela Davis’ set. She plays a massive harp.

And thus ended Day 2 of Solid Sound. Good night North Adams.
