Today was July 4th – American Independence Day. What else to do on July 4th but to go to a Hometown Parade. The next town over – Williamstown was having just that. After supermarket room breakfast we headed over to Williamstown. To be honest, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. I mean, this would be our 3rd July 4th in the USA – just so happens we are always here at that time of the year.
When we got to Williamstown, it was starting to get a little busy. We managed to find parking and met up with Piper and Brett who had secured a spot for the parade.

We went for a wander up the street and marvelled in all the Americanness. We ended up at the other end of the street and parade was about to begin, so we stayed there for a bit.

So the parade was everything we could’ve hoped for and more! We saw little horses and tractors driven by children and book shelves being precariously rolled down the hill and so much more! It was really great! Candy was being thrown out on the road and children were going wild collecting it. They were giving out all sorts of memorabilia- and I tried hard to get a flag but there were too many children to fend off and I missed out.

We walked back down to the other side of the road for the rest of the parade.

One of the groups was giving out rubber ducks – Piper and I made sure we got a duck.

After the parade we took a walk around, checked out the free hotdogs (didn’t have one) and got this awesome photo with some lovely local policemen.

We went back to Papa Charlie’s for lunch. Tasty sandwich’s!

Then we headed to the Clark Museum. It had free entry today so that was a bonus. The museum was huge – was not expecting it to be! Loads of exhibitions inside and walking trails outside. We spent most of the afternoon there.

We even (eventually) found the cows!

Then back to Tourists for a hang by the pool. It was pretty full of screaming children so we had to wait until they had to leave for dinner before it got nice. We ate our Red, White and Blue corn chips. Also we saw a huuuuuhe eagle fly overhead. We didn’t know it was an eagle 🦅- it was so big I thought it was some kind of black pelican!

For dinner we ate the rest of our Stop n Shop supplies

Then we hung out with Piper and Brett for the rest of the evening and listened to fireworks off in the distance.
