Longest flight in the world take 2

We got up early and enjoyed our breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express – it was actually quite good. Well decent anyway. To be honest – considering the price difference, it was actually better than the Double Tree Hilton in Melbourne’s breakfast so that’s something.

We caught the shuttle bus to the airport and thought of Tobias in Arrested Development “wait, we’re stopping again?” 😆

Shuttle bus shenanigans

Got to Newark airport and checked in to our flight!!!! Yea!!! At the first the guy checking us in said “just a minute” and we panicked thinking maybe we weren’t on the flight after all. But he called over his supervisor and she knew all about us (yes the loser Australians that missed our flight) and even managed to get us seats together at a window. Thank you Singapore Airlines 🙏

Newark airport is pretty small and it took like 1 minute to get through security. Quickest ever.

I bought a yogurt snack from this cool vending machine.

Views of NYC from the airport

The man from Singapore Airlines who helped us yesterday came to find us to check everything was ok which was really nice. Singapore Airlines have definitely earned some Brownie points with us. We only had about 1 hour to wait before our flight and we boarded quickly. Despite missing out on the extra legroom seating that we had booked for the flight we missed, we were happy to see the seats were still rather spacious.

I was really tired and I had brought my pillow with me on the flight so I was half asleep before we even left.

And as we taxied along the runway ready to take off, to the strains of “Baby Shark” coming from the seat behind me, I knew the holiday was over and I knew what was waiting for me in my future. It’s been a great holiday. We will miss the warmth and friendliness of the people here and our amazing Wilco friends.

The countdown to 2026 has begun!

Byyeeeeeeeee!
