Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

So where did I leave you yesterday? I think we had just checked in, and had a nap.

So 3 hour nap successfully had, we thought some food was in order. We were still pretty tired and disoriented but thought we would go for a walk to a local market Mercat Sant Antoni as we also wanted some supplies for our room. It’s quite hot out there.

It was an interesting if somewhat warm walk but we found the market. Unfortunately most of the stalls inside were closed already as it looked like it would have been good. We were getting hungry as we hadn’t had lunch and it was like 4pm by now so we saw this place with Iberico hams and decided to stop there. They had run out of most things for the day but we were able to order some Ibercio ham and Manchego cheese and some mineral waters. Note: our Spanish is very poor, we need to improve this.

It was delicious and just what we needed.

Our next mission was to find a supermarket which we successfully did (after an aborted visit into a Lidl supermarket) where Steve was very excited to see them slicing fresh jamon right there in the supermarket. We bought way too many things, and then got some more things at a local grocer and went back to our hotel.

Our hotel room is awesome BUT the air conditioning is not working!!! So the only solution was to move us to another room – but the new room isn’t as nice! NOOOOoooooo! We purposely splashed out and go a nicer room to recover from our jet let. So in the end we have decided to stay in this room without air con. It’s not so bad – we like the warm anyway. Actually – they gave us the other room too – so we currently have 2 hotel rooms ha ha

Ok I’m rambling … we had dinner in our room because who can face the outside world at the moment.

By this stage it was like 9:30pm and still light so we went for a walk “up the hill” to check out the evenings festivities. We also met up with Piper and Brett.

There were children setting off fireworks left right and centre. Had to dodge them as we walked. Pretty crazy.

We walked up lots of stairs and found a lovely view of Barcelona- plus a dude on a keyboard playing all the hits. It was pretty amazing. Everyone was having a lovely time.

Then we walked around avoiding fireworks until we could walk no more and went back to the hotel and promptly passed out to the dulcet tones of more fireworks being set off around the city.

Buenos Noches Barcelona!
