Nice

Continuing from yesterday, after a swim at the hotel, a rest and some dinner from our supermarket supplies (much more delicious than it sounds) we decided to get out in to the Barcelona night. Well, technically it was night, but it was still hot and bright sunlight as it seems to never get dark here

Our friends Piper and Brett were heading to a jazz club to meet up with a friend of theirs that has been living in Barcelona for the last few months, so we decided to tag along.

It was about 1/2 hour walk to the venue and we found the very unassuming place and went in. Everyone in the looked about 20 and the bar staff only spoke Spanish – turns out there was a door charge but we didn’t know how long we would be staying and Piper and Brett weren’t there yet and it was all a bit confusing as we tried to explain ourselves to the bar staff with Google translate. Anyway, everyone was super nice and the place was really cool – would definitely have been a place we would’ve hung out in like 30 years ago ha ha we so old 😞

We managed to get some drinks

We enjoyed our beverages as we listened to the hits of Queen on the overhead stereo.

After a while Piper and Brett turned up, we paid the door charge (a whole 8 euro which included a drink) and went in to the small room up the back, met all the young people and sat around and chatted until the band started up.

The band. was three guys playing jazz – drums, double bass and keys, and the crowd listened intently. It was nice to see young people still being interested in music.

We didnt stay until the end as we had to be up bright and early to go on a trip to the Salvador Dali trip. The venue was open to 2:30am which we decided was a little too late for us.

Bar Makinavaja

We sensibly booked an Uber and went back to the hotel to sleep. A lovely evening was had by all.
