Bit of a slower start to the day today. Had quite a late night last night and have to be up late tonight to see Wilco – so decided to have a bit of a sleep in. Also did a load of washing – very handy and the hot weather means it dries almost instantly.
We decided to go and check out the market we went to on our first day – see if there was any more shops open. Plus we just like wandering around that area.

Great local market. I wish we had something, anything even vaguely like this in Perth. And no, Coventry Markets does not even come close.
Coffee and croissants stop at a nearby cafe. Steve had a pistachio croissant and he said it was the best ever. I had a Pain Au Chocolate – it was pretty good.

As we were kind of close, we thought we should probably check out the big famous market – Mercado de Bouqueria. We had heard it was really busy and touristy, but some things you just have to see for yourself.
It was about a 15 minute walk away. It WAS busy but not too bad. Some much delicious food everywhere you look.

We got a cone of meat. When one is at a market it is difficult to resist the cone of meat.

Then Piper suddenly reminded us that Jeff Tweedy from Wilco was doing a book signing at a bookshop not too far away, so we really couldn’t not go, could we?
We hightailed it up to the bookshop, but couldn’t see anything going on. After a few moments of confusion we realised the correct bookshop was across the road.
We got in there and sure enough, there was Jeff signing away. Without hesitating I bought a copy of his book – in Spanish – and lined up to get it signed. And next thing I know Jeff was signing my book and I was telling him Wilco never come to Perth.

We are going to see Wilco tonight – the first of 4 shows we are seeing. Super excited, will be so good to see them! Report back later.
