Are you under the impression, this isn’t real life?

About 6 months ago, Wilco announced dates for Spain.

“We should go. We have always wanted to go to Spain” I said

Steve wasn’t as convinced. I got on to Instagram and messaged our friend Piper in Florida. 24 hours later we were all frantically buying tickets to Wilco in Spain.

And so here we are – the culmination of all that spontaneous planning. Wilco’s first show in Spain – in Barcelona.

Steve and I got there just before doors opened. The venue was up the hill behind our hotel – where we were watching the fireworks from the other night. There weren’t many people waiting to get in. Only staff. The director of the festival came over and said hello to us.

We went in and it was super cool inside the venue. Lots of little areas to sit and nice views over Barcelona.

Wristbands got

We had a look around, saw a small stage – briefly wondered if Wilco would be playing on that (no, that’s where the support band plays) and got a drink and sat down and chilled.

The support band Gold Lake were actually really good. Piper and Brett arrived during their set.

At 9:30pm they open the main venue and we all shuffled in. We bought a tour poster and went to secure our spot. We managed to get really close to the stage without even trying and we met some Spanish Wilco friends who we met in America last year.

And then before we knew, Wilco walked out on stage. They are were so good. They seemed to be so happy – so many smiles. The crowd was really great, no pushing, everyone just chill and enjoying the music. So good.

I’ve just chosen some random pics from the show. It was a great show – great choice of songs.

We hung around a bit after the show before walking back to our hotel, tired but happy. And a little sad that one show was already over.

Next stop, Madrid.
