Breakfast on the balcony watching the birds fly around.

Then we went for a coffee at Acid Coffee. Realised later we went to the wrong branch – we meant to go to another one that was closer. I mean, it didn’t really matter and the coffee was still good as was the croissant.

We saw this cute Kusama inspired sign.

We went to a produce store called “The Spanish Farm” to see if they had any good produce to buy. Yeh they did. I got a bunch of things and then the guy in the shop convinced us to buy some things to eat for lunch as a picnic. “We have plates” he says, and proceeded to produce plates, cups, cutlery, napkins – all for free – how could we resist. We bought some Iberico, cheese, olive oil and headed off to nearby Retiro Park to enjoy.

After lunch we caught the subway to Gran Via and did a bit of shopping/ wandering – I bought some badges and a magnet but I didn’t really take any photos so you will just have to imagine.
It’s often a bit of a race against siesta time here – as shops, restaurants etc close between about 2pm-7pm so you never quite know if you will make it in time to visit your favourite shop.
Speaking of siesta, it was hot and I was tired so we went back to the hotel for a chill and swim in the pool.
For dinner we met up with Piper and Brett at a nearby Taverna. This was our last hang out together as they are going home tomorrow. Dinner was really really delicious.

We had a bit of a wander after dinner. Saw this otter coffee guy.

Before one last drink together at our local hangout – Bar.

After saying our goodbyes (see you guys next year !!) we had one last wander around Madrid and found a whole other area of restaurants that we had failed to see over the last 4 days. They were right there, just behind our hotel, I’m not sure how we missed them! We are leaving Madrid tomorrow as well – bound for Basque Country. We will miss this place.

Safe travels home Piper and Brett & Buenos Noches Madrid!
