Mysterious River Disappointment

Morning coffee at Motx. Our new favourite place.

For lunch we went to a place that looked good and wasn’t too busy. We ordered a tomato salad and some pintxos. The tomato salad was next level.

It was raining today so kinda makes it harder to do things. But we decided we wouldn’t be beaten by the weather and would catch the funicular up the mountain. We were going catch the bus to the funicular station but decided to walk instead – a good 45 minute walk.

We saw these guys drawing in the sand. Super cool – must’ve taken a long time,

Made it to the funicular and didn’t have to wait long.

Views from the top

At the top of the mountain there is also a cool old amusement park. I love this kind of thing.

There was an old wooden roller coaster and “ The Mysterious River”. I had seen this on the internet but kind of forgot about it but now that I saw it I wanted to go on it! It was closed for siesta so we had to wait until 4pm for it to reopen. It was raining on and off which was kind of atmospheric but also just a bit damp.

When 4 o’clock rolled around, we went to line up for the mysterious river. There were quite a few people already waiting. We waited for a while and the staff slowly started bringing the boats out…but the weather had other ideas and it started raining quite heavily and so they decided to not go ahead with opening the ride. Damn! So close! The mysterious river will have to remain a mystery.

We headed back down the hill on the funicular and then waited for a bus to take us back in to town. An annoying family of four wearing white pants not only pushed in front of everyone waiting for the bus and boarded the bus first, they then proceeded to sit in the priority seats. Did not like this family.

Back in town I bought some awesome shoes.

Then we went back to the place we had lunch at for dinner because everywhere else was too busy already.

We also went back to Casa Urola for some more tasty things.

It was raining but the only table we could find was outside. Luckily we had an umbrella.

We also got cheesecake which we ate back in our room.

Two types of basque cheesecake

And that was our day, really. Mostly just eating food.
