2nd day in Tokyo. So many things to do and not enough time.
It was raining today, but still warm. We decided to go to Gotukuji Temple today – the “famous” cat temple. We have never been before so thought it was about time. We also wanted to catch the Setagaya line and see some things along the way.
We are on the other side of Tokyo though – so it took a bit of a trek to even get to the start of the Setagaya line in San nen jaya. A couple of subways, and the good ol Yamanote line.
But first breakfast at Andon. It’s changed a bit here. It’s more like a cafe and the meals are more “proper”. Also, they were large.

We got to Shibuya where we were meant to catch our next subway, but there was something weird happening in the subway station featuring police and people being apprehended…. So we backed out and went and had a wander around Shibuya for a bit. The shops weren’t open yet – so it was quite quiet. I wanted to go to the Disney Store for old times sake but it wasn’t open yet.

Shibuya has changed a bit since we were first here. The huge department store at the station has been knocked down. Kinda weird.

Calamity’s at the station over, we got on our next train to get to the start of the Setagaya line.
….to be continued (sorry… gotta catch a Shinkansen)
Ok I’m back… not quite on Shinkansen but time for some more updating….
So we get to the station and we want to buy an All day ticket for the Setagaya line like we saw on NHK because we want to get on and off a few times, but the man at the station really didn’t want to sell us an all day pass!!! It all got confusing and then we missed the special cat themed train and bought just one ticket and got in the next one… but then realised it was a mistake so caught the train back to the station and made him sell us the all day pass which was a cute cat ticket which we wanted anyway and why didn’t he just sell it to us in the first place???? I’ll put a photo of the ticket in later because I just realised I didn’t take one.
First stop was for coffee at Kannon coffee a couple of stops away on the train.

We wandered around the area a bit before getting back on the train and heading towards the cat temple.
We got off at Yamashita station and walked to Gotukuji temple. Lots of cute winding streets and shops and LOTS of coffee – we were disappointed we couldn’t drink anymore coffee because there were soooooo many good looking cafes.
It was raining quite a bit but otherwise was a lovely walk.

We found the cat temple and ALL the people too.

We had onigiri lunch outside the Family Mart and saw another temple. Also we managed to get on the cat train at one point.

After some more wandering and stuff we got back on some trains and headed for Shimokitazawa. In Shimokita we stopped for a rather average and overpriced Matcha latte before looking at some shops and seeing a large illuminated moon and cats.

Then we failed to have dinner at a Taco place before heading to Omotesando to try to find dinner.
We ended up at Maisen eating large delicious pork katsu.

Then train back to Minowa and a stop in at the sento before going back to Andon to sleep. Big day.

Something told me to come back to this post and I’m so glad I did because I just saw your updates and omg CAT TRAIN! And cat temple! And big blue illuminated cats!!!!
