We had a full day in Onomichi today. It’s a small town, but it’s just really cool. And lots of cats and cat products everywhere.
We had a coffee in the cafe of our accommodation and our breakfast was from Lawson – onigiri, egg sandwich and yogurt.

After breakfast we climbed the hill further to go see the temple – Sen Kou – at the top. It was quite hot and humid out there already at 9am. It’s a really great temple and the views are spectacular.

We headed back down and saw many cat friends along the way. We stopped for a coffee at a little hidden cafe called Airship Coffee.

After coffee we went back to other way to walk through “cat alley”. It’s a winding hilly path way with cats painted on rock and walls and stairs. Also real cats sometimes. We walked around here last year in the rain, it was much busier today.

We found a gallery with cat items and real cats also. I bought a cute cat badge.

We eventually made it down the hill and in to the town. We wanted to have lunch at a cafe called Tutuyu – we ate there last time and loved it. We knew it was popular and can get quite busy so we got there as early as we could. Luckily there was a spot for us. I got the grilled chicken set and Steve got the omurice set. Also Steve had a pink lemonade and I had a Muscat grape drink – unbelievably delicious!!

After lunch it was time to do some shopping. I bought a few things – it’s really hard not to buy everything! I went to the shop that I bought my satchel bag in last year as I wanted these Velcro straps so I could attach it to my bike. When they saw my bag they noticed that some of the stitching was starting to come away so they offered to fix it up for me! So that was really awesome because I love that bag!
Then, time for more coffee at Pour Espresso down by the waterfront.

We decided to head back up the hill to our accommodation for a bit as we had to organise our packing as we are going cycling tomorrow and we are forwarding our main suitcase on to Kyoto.
We got ice creams for the walk, but I realised it’s really difficult to eat ice cream when you are climbing hundreds of stairs in 90% humidity. The ice cream was delicious though.

After sorting out our luggage, we headed down the hill again to find some dinner. We had to stop many times though because, cats.
Steve sat on the steps for 20 seconds to take a photo and ended up with a cat on his lap!!!

Nice views and sunset on the way done too.

Back in town we wandered around a bit. It gets pretty quiet once the sun goes down.
We weren’t that hungry because we have pretty much been eating all day so we opted for a Lawson dinner and ate it at some tables by the waterfront. It’s was a really nice warm evening.

After dinner we dragged ourselves up the stairs ago and saw some cats on the way.
My watch tells me we climbed 57 flights of stairs today!!!
