Monday Morning

It was raining a lot in Melbourne today. We were just hoping that it would clear up by tomorrow for the Pulp show. I mean, some rain is ok, but torrential downpour is less fun.

We went to nearby Lune for croissants and coffee for breakfast. Good croissant. Good coffee. This place is insanely popular but we were pleasantly surprised to see it wasn’t very busy in the morning.

After breakfast the rain had kind of cleared. We decided to head in to the city and thought it might be nice to walk. Which it was.

In the city I went to some of my favourite international chain stores – Daiso, Mini Sou and Flying Tiger. Yes! There is a Flying Tiger in Melbourne now. I was a bit excited by this. I didn’t actually buy anything in there (I usually don’t ha ha) but I love looking at their stuff.

It was basically lunch time by now so we went to my favourite Banh Mi place that I have been thinking about since last time I visited in 2023. I can’t remember what it’s called though. It’s just a takeaway window down an alleyway. We got our banh mi and headed to Federation Square to sit on their deck chairs. Luckily it wasn’t raining too much and there were large umbrellas to shield us from the elements.

Amazing

After lunch we tried to have go have a coffee at our favourite place near Degraves Lane, but they are no longer open on Mondays. So that was a bit sad. The city wasn’t really working for us so we decided to head back to Fitzroy and went Thieves Coffee for or coffee instead. It was a cute little place – looked like someone’s house.

Good coffee

We went up to a record shop on Smith Street and picked up a copy of the 30th Anniversary Vinyl of Pulps “Different Class”. Been trying to get my hands on this little beauty for a while now.

In the late afternoon we headed to the Napier Hotel to catch up with a bunch of Melbourne friends (and some Perth ones) and a fine time was had by all. Except I ended up only eating chips for dinner which in hindsight was probably a mistake. Also it was raining a lot.

Bunch o weirdos
Spooky
All the rain

Back at the hotel I ate some cheese and crackers with a spoon because it was the only implement we had.
