Tonight, after a long wait of 22 years, I finally got to see one of my most favouritest bands ever, The Wonderstuff. The last time they toured Perth was in 1992 and I was a sad little 17 year old who couldn’t get into the 18+ venue to see them. I’d pretty much given up hope of ever seeing them until a couple of years ago when, out of the blue they came to Australia and played some shows with Jesus Jones. Alas, I didn’t get to go to that show either as it never made its way to Perth. Just for a change. So, imagine my excitement when last year it was announced that they would be coming back to Oz and this time they were coming to Perth. Well you probably don’t need to imagine, cos let me tell you I was pretty bloody excited. My excitement only slightly dampened by the fact that the only original member was the singer Miles Hunt. But hey, one WonderStuffie is better than none, so there was no complaining from me.
Now…wait a minute…I thought this was meant to be my dinner blog… So as it was Sunday and shows start and finish early on Sundays (all over by 10pm), we had to have an early dinner. Luckily we had a lot of leftover burgers etc from last night so that is what we had.
And then it was off to the Rosemount.
There was no way I was going to get stuck behind the tallest person in the venue(like I normally do) and so I waited patiently up the front to secure my spot on front of the stage.
And they did not disappoint. They sounded fab, and it was an awesome show. The crowd went wild towards the end, pogoing and singing along. Great stuff. And I even got to meet Miles after the gig. Yay to awesomeness!
Oh and I schnaffled a set list too. Best ever.
