Along About Sunset

Well folks, all good things must come to an end, and sadly our time at Tourists was over. Despite the over abundance of screaming children this time, it is still a magical place and I’m pretty certain we will be back in 2026. We will miss Tourists radio the most. Good music maketh the place.

Also it was bucketing down with rain this morning.

Last breakfast at Tourists
So green
All the rain

One last bunny sighting before it was time to head off.

We drove off through the Berkshires to Hartford, Connecticut where we were flying out from. The one thing I remembered about the airport from last time was the Cat in the Hat statue – which sure enough was still there.

We shared a sandwich for lunch

Then on to a plane bound for Charlotte, North Carolina. It was only about a 2 hours flight – but both of us slept the whole way.

Coming in to Charlotte

After some confusion at the baggage carousel in Charlotte, We picked up a rental car and drove off towards Asheville- just under 2 hours away.

It was around 7pm by the time we got to Asheville and we were both starving. We checked in to our hotel before getting out to find some food asap. We went to the S&W market and ate some pretty delicious hotdogs. But honestly, i literally would’ve eaten anything by that stage.

We were quite tired from a day of travelling, but I wanted to go check out a thing called “Shindig on the Green” which happens every Saturday “along about sunset” over Summer. Luckily it was super close by. When we got there it was packed with people on chairs and bluegrass mountain music filling the air. It was really awesome. Each act got to do 2 songs before it was on to the next so we got to see a whole bunch of amazing musicians. We also saw some amazing clogging and some square dancing. Awesome. We stayed until the end at 10pm. We are thinking of moving here ha ha

Afterwards it was time for ice cream, before heading back to the hotel after a long day. We think we like this town.
