Panda bao

The coffee isn’t all that great at our hotel (actually it’s pretty terrible) so first stop this morning was to get a decent coffee. We bypassed the $6 flat whites and cappuccino’s for $3 Vietnamese coffees at a nearby food hall. They proved to be just what we needed.

Now that we were sorted for coffee, we headed off to the River Safari at Singapore Zoo. They have pandas. They also have manatee. The manatee were really awesome. It’s a pretty cool zoo, all nicely themed and such.
For lunch we had some fairly average fast food Chinese – crispy (microwaved) Chicken, Mapo tofu & dumplings. But look, we all know we weren’t here for that. It was the Panda bao dumplings that brought us (well, ok, mostly me) here. They had 2 types – red bean and chocolate custard. We both got red bean. They were so cute, and pretty darn tasty too!

Here’s a few pics of some of the animals we saw.

Afternoon snacks back at the hotel by the pool – mangosteen, beer and Japanese rice crackers.

Then off to Chinatown for dinner. Black pepper crab and a side of char sieu pork. And a beer. Really, really good.

Oh, and Steve had Icecream in bread on the way home. I didn’t. I was too full.
