Firstly, I was very excited to find the Japanese herb shiso at Fresh Provisions the other day. It’s not something I’ve ever seen in Perth before.
Then I made Onigarazu for dinner. I think I have explained these before, but in case I haven’t – Onigirazu are like Onigri, but more like a sandwich. So they are essentially rice sandwiches! Best! You can put whatever you want in the middle (I used left over salmon from the previous night, plus omelette that I quickly cooked up), then it is all wrapped in a sheet of nori. So convenient! So tasty!
Inspired by my discovery of Shiso, I ordered a whole lot of seeds from the Internet (from Range view Seeds) so I can attempt to start my own Japanese herb garden. I got edamame, shiso (green & purple), mizuna, okra and mitsuba. I don’t know how successful I will be, but it’s worth a go.
Herbs look most interesting – looking forward to progress reports 🌿
