On route from Zell Am See to Innsbruck, ad after driving through a sea of clouds…
…we chanced upon a sign that pointed to a Wild Park. Never being ones to miss an opportunity like this, we turned off the main road and drove up a winding road up the the side of a moment. At the top we were surprised to see a car park full of cars. After a bit more of a trek we made it to the Wild Park. We paid our entry and went in. There were deer and rabbits and goats all roaming around on the side of the mountain.
The rabbits were particularly cute.
By the time we had finished wandering around the park it was lunch time and we were getting hungry. Now, I know what you are thinking – lunch at the zoo? Definitely not was our initial thought too. But we poked our heads in to the door of the restaurant and it actually looked quite good, so we decide to give it a go. And guess what? We were pleasantly surprised. All the food was locally sourced – and I would almost go as far as to say that this was the best meal we had on the whole trip!!! We had Speck Brot which was fabulously delicious and a Sheep’s cheese salad with walnuts and other bits that was truly amazing.
After lunch we headed back on our way. We stopped for coffee and cake in the small town of Kitzbühel at a cute and very pink cafe called Cafe Schatzi.
And then, it was onwards to Innsbruck, where upon arrival I proclaimed “I’m never leaving here”.
