Today we headed out in search of soba. Yes, I will admit we only discovered this place because we saw Anthony Bourdain go to it on an episode of Parts Unknown. Sarashina Hori has been a soba restaurant for a VERY long time. Like, over 200 years. That’s pretty crazy. It was relatively quiet when we got there so we easily got a table. We both ordered Hot soba and got some side dishes too – Yuba, Simmered pork belly and tamagoyaki.
There’s a reason they have been in business for so long as it was absolutely delicious!!! I will definitely be going back there when I am next in Tokyo.
We headed to Shibuya next. It was coffee time and Hoshino Coffee was where we were headed. Why? Two words. Soufflé Pancakes.
Hoshino Coffee is located in prime viewing of the Shibuya scramble crossing and we managed to snag a window seat. We ordered drip filter coffee and I ordered a souffle pancake with chocolate sauce.
Omg. So good. And it’d be easy to sit here all day staring out the window.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in Shibuya before heading back to Ueno where we bought bento for dinner, which we ate back at Andon. I had the panda bento.
