Our time in Nozawa was at its end and so was our time in Japan. We spent our last night in Narita City just for something different. It was a bit of a trek to get from Nozawa to Narita ( which involved going to Narita airport by the NEX and then catching a local train back to Narita city) We had some Onigiri snacks on the train.
In Narita we were staying at Wakamatsu Honten hotel, which much to our surprise was situated right across from Narita temple. The view from our room was pretty special.
It was already late in the afternoon but it was a lovely sunshiny day so we quickly went out to explore. The Narita temple complex was quite large and amazing. We spent a lot of time wandering around there.
Then we decided to go have an explore the many cute shops along the street.
We went in one shop and when we came out, the weather had suddenly changed and it was snowing a little. We continued our sauntering, and the snow kept getting heavier and heavier. It was also suddenly very cold.
We decided it was probably best to head back to the hotel.
We had booked to have dinner at the hotel and it did not disappoint.
Our room was awesome. Love the traditional Japanese tatami rooms.
The next morning before we checked out, we also had breakfast at the hotel. For breakfast they served Shojin Ryori aka Buddhists cuisine – all vegetarian and all delicious. Loved the natto especially.
And then it was off to the airport.
Inflight meals
A far too long layover (but not long enough so we could go somewhere) in Singapore
And then we were home. Here’s a selection of delicious things I brought home from Japan.
And some awesome kitchen utensils. That cabbage shaver thing is THE BEST kitchen implement I have even owned.
Miss you already Japan.
Great ‘relive’ of your trip, waited until the last one at Narita and then read thru all – thanks !!
