After a fun day on the slopes we headed to a local Izakaya for dinner. It was a small place, and very busy (we actually had to book the night before). We sat up at the bar and ordered a whole lot of stuff and watched it be cooked. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we saw a serving of buta Kakuni (stewed pork belly) being served up and knew we needed to have it. So ended up changing one of our items (tebasaki – yakitori chicken wings) for an order of pork belly instead. It didn’t disappoint.
I had two umeshu’s on ice and Steve had two whiskey highball’s. They were generous serves.
All the food was really good and we attempted to use our “sukoshi Nihongo” on the staff.
