Malmo-Copenhagen-Malmo

Hotel breakfast this morning was a bit of a shock to the system. All the people getting in to the buffet like wild animals. Children coughing on everything and everyone in their sight. It’s was all a bit much for me to be honest. And then the coffee on offer wasn’t particularly good either. Seeing as though I had only had a Nespresso and an aeroplane coffee on the flight over in the last 48 hours I was desperate for a good coffee.

So we went to Copenhagen. Because we could. And look, to be fair, we were probably going to go to Copenhagen today anyway, but now we had a mission.

Luckily, in Copenhagen, after a bit of a walk we found Nude Coffee. Coffee was excellent and pretty much life saving.

Feeling better after some good coffee, we went for a wander through a park (didn’t see any squirrels) and decided it was lunch time.

The only allowed lunch when you are in Denmark is Smorrebrod.

Then I bought some peas and cherries from the market.

Tomatoes!

We walked up through Copenhagen and we saw this plaza place where we wanted to have a beer when we were here 3 years ago but it was too cold. Coldness was not a problem today.

More walking until we came across our favourite boat bar. The Tipsy Mermaid. We had to stop in for a drink. The boat rocks quick a bit.

Stopped by Broens Street Food Market for some chips – but the plan was to head up to an area called Reffen which is an even bigger outdoor street food market.

Problem is, it’s about a 45 minute walk away and we had already walked so much today. And also, it’s always a risk – what if it sucks? So we tried to hire a city bike – just for like 15 minutes to ride up there. But we got foiled at the last moment because we needed a phone number to sign up and we only have data sims this no phone number. Looks like we are walking.

It took forever and we did wonder what we were doing at points BUT we eventually made it and luckily it was amazingly cool. Loads of food and drink vendors – seats, water views, DJ, and just general chilled vibes.

We found some seats and sat there for about the next 5 hours drinking beers and eating food.

Actually – we had mojitos not beer at all. Made me a bit tired. I may have had a little nap.

Steve had a souvlaki for dinner and I had crumbed shrimp and chips. I didn’t really need any more chips, but it just looked too delicious. Also I had major choice anxiety as everything looked and smelt great.

We eventually decided we should probably leave as it was getting late and we still had to get back to Sweden. We didn’t want to walk all that way back so decided to catch the ferry aka the harbour bus. We couldn’t find the ferry stop for ages but we did see these cool shipping container houses.

We found the ferry terminal eventually and luckily we managed to get on (it was quite busy)

We walked back through the Nyhaven area of Copenhagen which is quite touristy but it’s still really cool.

Then we had a quite sneaky peak at Tivoli amusement park from the food hall next to it before getting in the train back to Malmo and getting home just before midnight. Long day!
