Today is our last day of the trip. I can’t believe it!
On the agenda for the day :
- Trying to ram all of our crap that we have been carrying around for 4 weeks back in to our suitcases with added prurchases
- Wandering around Malmo, because, quite frankly we have spent too much time in Denmark and not enough time in Sweden.
First on the agenda though, was coffee. We like our hotel here in Malmo and I’ve even learned to enjoy the buffet – coughing and screaming children and all. BUT the coffee is DREADFUL. Worse than, it is actually undrinkable.
After searching Google for “Best Coffee in Malmo” I discovered a place called Nordic Brew Lab and decided it was the place to go.
It was tucked away in a non-descript area as these places often are. Very minimalist and stylish on the inside, and let me tell you – these guys take their coffee seriously.

We really just wanted a good flat white, but this wasn’t even on the menu.

We went for the Tanat (as seen above) – Competition level milk coffee. And it really did taste like the flavours it says on the menu – particularly the cheesecake and raspberry.

We sat up at the bar and chatted to the barista and some other customers next to us who were from Luxembourg.
Once caffeinated we set out to do some shopping. Well, I did anyway. First stop was the Malmo chocolate shop. This chocolate was everywhere last time we were here but proved a bit more difficult to find on this trip.

Also went to a liquorice shop and some other random places.

Went back to our hotel for lunch and some packing as we hadn’t started that yet.
Packing (almost) completed it was time for Fika. We went back to Hollandia for Princess cake. But on the way there we went in to a nerdy shop – Science Fiction Bookshop. I nearly let Steve go in by himself but glad I didn’t because they didn’t just have books they had all sorts of cute goodies. And look what I found? A locally designed badge – a Princess Cake Shark!

After cake we decided to go on a boat around the canal. Not sure if it’s *actually* a boat – you have to pedal it – so I guess it’s a pedal boat. We hired one for an hour. It was quite tiring.

We didn’t have time to make it all the way around – we had to do half of the loop and then return. We were warned about an aggressive swan that would attack people on the boats so we avoided that area. We were not warned about the weirdo with really bad aim that was throwing eggs out of the bushes at people paddling by.

It was quite good fun but our legs were a bit wobbly afterwards.
For dinner, we went to a nearby bar called Ola. We had been wanting to go there since we saw it on day one but never managed to make it. It’s a Portuguese tapas place and it was really busy when we got there. We swore we would be having no more alcohol on this trip but couldn’t resist one last drink here. We also had some prosciutto, delicious cheese and anchovies.

We liked this place a lot and were a little sad that we didn’t get to come here more. Spent too much time (and money) in damn Copenhagen 😆

On the way back to the hotel we stumbled across a trinket box. Finally, after 4 weeks of carrying around some tiny ducks I found a place to put them. I took a Badtz Maru sticker in return.

And then our Swedish/Danish odyssey was basically over.
Tomorrow it’s back on to the long haul flight….
