Tuesday 21st January
After the debacle of last night’s dinner, and after a long day on the slopes, we had grown a little weary of Izakaya food. Delicious, for sure, but does get a little same after a while. Craving rice (amongst all the Australians and Izakaya’s, surprisingly difficult to find in Nozawa) we overheard another family talking about onigiri from the only 24 hour konbini in town. We’d been in there a number of times, but somehow managed to miss the onigiri. So after asking more specific instructions on how to find them, we headed out to find some onigiri for dinner. Luckily, when we got there we found what we were looking for, and we also stocked up on some other well loved konbini snacks, headed back to our hotel and feasted like kings (well, kind of)
Interesting to note: we didn’t have a knife so had to use hashi (chopsticks) instead. I’m sure this would be frowned upon in public, but hey, we weren’t in public and I wanted to eat that cream cheese I had bought several days ago.
